Father Veniamin (Valerii Novik (b. 1946)) was fired from his position in the St. Petersburg Orthodox Theological Academy in 1997 because of his disagreement with the new federal law "On freedom of conscience and religious organizations". The title of this book reminds one about another triad "Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality" by Dmitrii Khomiakov but offers a different understanding of the role of the Church in the young Russian democracy. According to the author, the Church still does not have its own social doctrine and has not adopted anything from Russian religious philosophical thought (V. Solov’ev, S. Berdiaev, S. Frank, etc.) This book seeks for social reasons of the current failure of Russian democracy, discusses the concept of Christian democracy as a possible doctrine and its interpretation in modern Russia.
