This is a translation of the book by Neil Cornwell, professor of Bristol University, published in London in 1992. The monograph is about the history of translating and publishing Joyce`s books in Russia, polemics and Russian critical works about him in last seventy-five years. Cornwell also investigates mutual connections between Joyce and Russia; the meaning of Russian culture for him and his own influence on Russian writers: A. Belyi, S. Ezenshtein, V. Nabokov.
