The Fate of Novels, is the first study based on textual analysis which questions the authorship of "Quiet Don" supposedly written by M. Sholokhov. The study was finished in 1988 and published in parts in various publications. After comparing F.D. Kriukov’s diaries with the novel and interviewing many people, Mezentsev came to the conclusion that not Sholokhov but Kriukov is the author of the Nobel prize novel. The second work is a biographical essay on the Sholokhov family.
