This monograph investigates traditional somatic views of Russians, or, how Russians think about their bodies, its structure and functioning. The author pays special attention to the role and place of the body in the Russian world paradigm as it is reflected in Russian folklore and beliefs. Another source for this study was Russian folk medicine and healing. The book consists of three parts: composition of the body; life cycle of the body; sorcerers and evil, mysterious, and heavenly forces.
