This monograph is one of the volumes in the series History of Russian Literature of the Twentieth Century: 1920-1930s prepared by philologists from the Institute of World Literature (Moscow). The author discusses the task literature has assumed in Russia since the nineteenth century: national self-reflection, syncretic philosophy, reflection of the world and man.
