This book includes four publications. The first one, Freudism and Current Directions in Philosophical and Psychological Thought, was written by a disciple and close friend of Mikhail Bakhtin, Valentin Voloshinov. This work was first published in 1927. Some scholars think that the author is really Bakhtin, but this is still under debate. The second work, Modern Vitalism, is by another member of Bakhtin`s circle I. Kanaev. Also included are the KGB case of V.N. Voloshinov and an afterword of the publisher of the series Bakhtin in the Mask Igor` Peshkov: On Manifestations of Deep Identity of Style: Analyzing the Bakhtin Disputed Texts. The main result of his study is the mathematical confirmation that the style of some works by Voloshinov is identical to the style of the work by P. Medvedev, and both of them with Bakhtin`s works.
