Since 1989 Panorama of Russia has specialized in academic and reference publications from the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
This publication includes a series of nuptiality tables with analysis for single men and women. The tables are based on the 1985 (USSR) and 1994 (Russia) microcensus data for the periods of 1980-1984 and 1989-1993. The microcensuses covered 5 per cent of resident non-institutional population. For the tables included the authors selected the three most important factors of nuptiality differentiation found in previous surveys: ethnicity, educational status, urban/rural residence as well as the size of city. One unexpected result of the analysis is that the socio-economic crisis of the early 1990s has not changed male and female nuptiality indicators significantly. Thus, marriage remains an almost universal institution. Nuptiality tables help to describe and partly explain the specific features of Russian demographic changes. Summary, contents and list of tables in English.
