This report attempts to define the basic features of Russia`s model of economic development in the era of globalization. The first part deals with the problems of the foreign economic environment and its impact on the shaping and functioning of the post-Soviet national economic system. According to the authors, within the next 5-10 years the main Russian task will be to weaken its one-sided dependence on foreign factors, to diversify its export structure, to intensify import-substitution and import-forestalling, and to ease the foreign debt burden. In the second part the authors describe Russia`s optimal model of economic development with an orientation on a transition to a post-industrial era.
