This is the fourth volume in the series Eastern Turkestan in Antiquity and Early Medieval Times. This collective work studies monuments of fine art and architecture, available materials on musical culture and clothing (1st millenium A.D.). Interrelations with neighboring regions, first of all with China, Central Asia, and India, are broadly elucidated. A synthesis of data obtained in the course of examination of art and architecture and evidence of written sources has permitted for the first time in Russian historiography to reconstruct the image of the remarkable culture of the peoples of Eastern Turkistan in antiquity and early medieval times.
