This anthology is the result of a course on the history of modern Jewish literature written in Hebrew which professor Kh. Bar-Iosef read in the Russian State Humanities University at the department of Bible Studies and Judaism. Most of the works were translated before this course was completed, but several translations were made for this book. Among the translators are famous Russian poets and writers: Valerii Briusov, Vladislav Khodasevich, Iurgis Baltrushaitis, etc. Some of the works have a parallel text in Hebrew. The book is forwarded with two articles on the history of Jewish modern literature. Also included as an afterword is an article on Israeli literature of the 1990s. All translations are provided with commentary. Bibliography, name index.
