Lekshmozerie is an inner area in the Arkhangelsk oblast` in Northern European Russia. Its insularity helped the region preserve, up to the kolkhoz period, traditional features of a northern Russian village. This book is based on materials received by summer expeditions of 1988-1992, which set themselves the task of finding surviving attributes of old usage. Part 1 includes articles on economy, communal relations, material culture (agricultural tools, trades, arts and crafts, family traditions). Supplemented with a glossary of the local dialect.
