This book is about Bohdan Zynoviy Mykhailovych Khmelnytsky (1595-1657), a hetman of the Zaporozhian Cossack Hetmanate of the Polish-Lithuanian kingdom. It comprises archive materials, including Bohdan Khmelnytsky`s correspondence with the Turks, Poles and Tatars. The publication covers the events of the middle of the 17th century. The book was published in 1882 and based on doctoral thesis of P.N. Butsinslii (1853-1916). It was approved by his opponent, professor Kostomarov.
