The Annals of George the Monk published in this book is based on the oldest version (Troitsk or Tver, early 14th century). The manuscript contained only a part of the Annals: the chronicle ends in year 1553. The first part of the first volume includes an interpreted text of the manuscript in Old Russian with additions from the Greek parallel text which restore the lost or damaged parts of the manuscript.
