The book is a collection of studies of ethnic mobilization on the crossroads of ethnography and ethnology. The author analyzes factors, sources, causes and mechanisms of ethnic mobilization. The following topics are discussed: the controversial role of the intelligentsia in raising national self-consciousness and strengthening international consolidation; language reform; the logic and psychology of mobilized ethnicity, ways of forming Russian state-civil unity.
