This is the seventh volume, book 1, of selected works by Viacheslav Vsevolodovich Ivanov (b. 1929), a linguist (ancient Eastern languages), historian of literature and culture, poet and writer, director of the Institute of World Culture of Moscow State University, and professor of Russian culture at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is one of the last remaining representatives of the Moscow-Tartu Semiotic School. The previous six volumes were published in 2000-2009, the last five volumes are also available.
