The third edition of the book on the history of sexual culture in Russia by Igor Kon (1929-2011) is quite different from the first and the second. Not only is it an extended version, but also the author analyzes his own prediction about how sexual culture would evolve. The Soviet social experiment including taboo (suppression) on sexual topics in public discourse and education, disorganization of traditional marriage and family, social emancipation of women, etc.) was not typical only for the soviet regime and demonstrated trends inherent in many similar societies.
