This monograph studies the teaching of Filaret (Drozdov, 1782-1867), metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomenskoe, who was an outstanding Russian theologian, priest, and statesman of the nineteenth century, and its genesis. The Russian Council ranked the metropolitan among the Russian Orthodox Saints.
