This is the eleventh and final issue of the almanac started in 1996. This issue, like the previous ones, reflects the changes in the Intelligentsia’s attitude towards engagement and understanding of their role in Russian political life through the Gorbachev, El`tsin, and Putin` administrations. The book is a collection of minutes of the political discussions in the club "Svobodnoe Slovo" in the Institute of Philosophy in 2007-2008. This club in terms of the length of its life and role in Russian intellectual life may bring it close to the Religious-Philosophical Meetings and St. Petersburg Viacheslav Ivanov`s Wednesdays. Among the participants are respected Russian social scientists, politicians, philosophers, artists and journalists. All previous volumes are also available.
