The book is the anthology of unique fairytale texts based on one plot, St. George and the dragon. They were collected by the outstanding Russian folklorist and historian of Old Russian literature Aleksandr Nikiforov (1893-1942) during the folklore expedition of 1926-1928 in the districts of Lake Onega and the Pinega and Mezenia Rivers.
