Ilya Erenburg (1891-1967), the Russian writer and journalist, worked in many literary genres at the same time: poet, critic, writer, and journalist. This first chapter, a reprint of a book published in Berlin in 1922, includes 14 essays about his generation of poets, the last generation of the Silver Age, with some of their poetry: A. Akhmatova, Iu. Baltushaitis, K. Bal`mont, V. Briusov, A. Blok, S. Esenin, Viach. Ivanov, V. Maiakovskii, O. Mandel’shtam, B. Pasternak, F. Sologub, M. Tsvetaeva, and N. Voloshin.
