This book is a collection of biographical stories about Russian painters in emigration, mostly of the so called first wave (the first quarter of the 20th century), who found their new home in Europe, the USA, and Africa. It also includes a lot of useful information for collectors and lovers of Russian paintings. This volume is the first one in the series "Another Motherland" about Russian emigre painters. It features both well known painters as A. Arkhipenko, Kh. Suetin, M. Shagal, S. Sudeikin, as well as less known: M. Baranov-Rossine, M. Kikoin, A. lanskoi, S. Sorin, O. Tsadkin, etc. It also includes interesting information about the most recent auctions of Russian art. Two more volumes are planned in this series devoted to painters from the group "Mir Iskusstva", Russian painters working for the theater, "Russian Seasons" in Paris and other famous emigre figures of the Silver Age from Russia. Profusely illustrated, including 30 color illustration.
