Pushkin`s manuscripts are described, not without reason, as a shorthand record of his creative method. The authors` aim was not to decode Pushkin`s drawings (i.e., to explain who or what is depicted) in the traditional fashion, but to attempt to understand the presence of a drawing in a manuscript, and analyze the associative relation between the drawings and the text.
