This book deals with the history of the women`s suffrage movement in Russia as well as the history of Russian feminism. The main result of this movement was allowing women the right to vote. Russia became the fifth country that gave this right to women. The author explains the soviet legislation on gender equality of 1920-1930s as a direct result of the pre-revolutionary feminist movement. One of the latest pages of the feminist movement was written in St. Petersburg in the 1980s by women dissidents. Comments, bibliography.
