This is the fourth issue of the series on December 14, 1825. On this day a number of St. Petersburg aristocrats, mostly officers who had fought against the Napoleonic invasion of 1812, staged an uprising in protest against autocracy and serfdom. Research in the "Decembrist" movement flourished in the 1920s but was then restricted by heavy ideological control. This issue continues the systematic research in the area. It includes presentations made at the workshop "Decembrists. After 175 years (Moscow, December 2000)" by S. Shmidt, O. Edelman, and M. Safonov as well as publications of new materials and sources, new studies and reviews of new publications about this movement. Also contains a bibliography of recent works on the subject.
