This is the first collective monograph which studies the historiography of Stalinism. The Stalin epoch is probably the most politicized in Russian historiography. The contributors try to depoliticize this topic by analyzing the various approaches to interpretation of the key moments of the historical development of Stalin`s system and applying various historiographical patterns. The book is structured chronologically following the main phases of the Stalin period and system. It is devoted to the memory of an outstanding Russian historian Aleksandr Zevelev (1921-2005), a specialist in Russian history of the twentieth century, who started this project.
