This book is about the diplomatic culture of Muscovy at the end of the 15th - the first half of the 17th centuries. The author collected and classified the numerous traditions and etiquette norms which were not written down, but existed exclusively in oral tradition. The diplomatic etiquette, restored from numerous sources, impresses one with its rich symbolism, and the balance and proportionality of its elements. The first written agreements about ambassadorial etiquette with Russia’s neighbors were passed in the 1670s. Bibliographical references.
