This book is about the tragic fate of the Liuban military operation of the Red Army at the Volkhov front in 1942. The Liuban` offensive operation was the third attempt by Russian forces to break the Leningrad blockade in the Great Patriotic War. The failure of the operation in the forest of Miasnoi Bor was for a long time explained by the defection of its military leader General A. Vlasov: A.A. Vlasov and his brigade were taken captive. This monograph is the most detailed study of this operation, including participation of partisan divisions. The book is illustrated with many photographs, both of that time and recent ones. Boris Gavrilov (1946-2003), a historian of the Russian Navy and the Great Patriotic War, is the author of several monographs. Extensive bibliography. Comments, name index.
