This exhibition, devoted to the 1000 years anniversary of Christianity in Russia, shows the dialog between the great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin and Filaret (Vasilii Drozdov, 1782-1867), metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomenskoe, a Russian saint since 1994. This album includes personal possessions of A. Pushkin and the metropolitan, the crowns Pushkin was married in, books of both of them published during their life, ceremonies and speeches of the metropolitan, books and pictures of old Moscow and St. Petersburg, exteriors and interiors of the churches of that period. Many of these items were exhibited for the first time. Also included are materials of the conference Pushkin and the Spiritual Culture of His Time: 12 essays on Biblical and Christian motifs in Pushkin`s poetry, on his relations with the Church, on the personality of Filaret, his ceremonies, religious paintings of this period.
