Ekphrasis, a concept of Greek-Roman literature, has several meanings, but first of all: records of eye movements and visual perceptions or verbal description of visual objects. The author of this monograph studies interaction between a word and image in Russian culture. She discusses the line of Ancient, Russian, and French literary works inspired by the plastic arts.
