Book two: The Cross in Orthodoxy

Staurography, one of the auxiliary historical disciplines, studies the history and symbolism of the cross as a fundamental symbol of Christianity. The series is published by mutual efforts of the Moscow Russian Orthodox patriarchy and the Russian State Archive. This second volume contains 23 articles by Russian scholars, most of them published for the first time. Among the contributors are both well known scholars, like N.I. Trotskii and G.D. Filimonov, and modern historians. The collection also includes a bibliography on staurography for 2000-2002.
