This is a book of memoirs by Issak Fil`shtinskii, a historian and orientalist, about the years of political repression and the years he spent in camp: 1949-1955. Fil`shtinskii considered himself a lucky man: he came home relatively young and still healthy enough to have a fresh start in life. He writes about the people he met there and their life stories.
