Two fields in psychology and education theory, pedology and psychotechnics, were banned by a special resolution of the Central Committee of the communist party in 1936. Both of these disciplines developed a methodology and instruments for testing human abilities and skills. This book describes the social history of banning these areas of study, and reviews existing versions and explanations of the reasons for this resolution. The monograph also reprints several of the most significant articles in pedology and psychotechnics, as well as official documents on the liquidation of the research and practical institutes in the field.
