This dictionary-directory of plots and motifs has no analogues in the history and theory of Russian literature. The current first volume covers plot and motif content of Russian literature of the 11-20th centuries in three directions: biblical motifs, mythological (folk mythology and demonology); and royal. The dictionary is built on many studies by Russian and foreign historians. Appendices include two articles on the methodology of the dictionary by I.V. Silant`ev and V.I. Tiupa.
