The Zlatoust Library is a series of adapted, illustrated texts by modern Russian writers for non-native Russian students for five levels of proficiency and vocabulary: first (about 760 word); second (1,300); third (1,500); fourth (2,300); fifth (3,000). This issue is for students of the fourth level. It is about the Russian scholar Zhores Alferov (b. 1930) who received the Nobel prize in physics in 2000. It includes articles about Alferov and his colleagues, Alfred Nobel, Alferov`s Nobel award speech, Alferov`s foundation of support of Russian science, some short articles about his achievements.
