"Iabloko" emerged as a political group for participation in the Russian parliamentary election of 1993. The core of this political movement were social scientists, economists, and social activists. Later the group became a strong political party under the leadership of Grigorii Iavlinskii. This book describes the ten years of activities of the party in local governments in several regions of the Russian Federation, in the State Duma, their current social basis, relationship with the government and other political bodies, political initiatives, positions, and actions on the most important social issues: corruption, the war in Chechnya, and aid to the impoverished in the population. Also included are the party electoral statistics, the differences in the positions of Iabloko and Soiuz Pravykh Sil (Union of Right Forces).
