Search tips
The search tools consists of three parts: quick search, simple search, and advanced search. All searches are case insensitive. We use Library of Congress transliteration and list isbn’s without separation of the number (5553274112 rather than 5-553-27411-2). Code is our catalog code from our printed and email catalogs.
Quick search
Search string will return matches for any word in the string unless it is in quotes. For example pushkin returns 342 records while alexander pushkin returns 405 and "alexander pushkin" returns 7.
You can also specify one of several fields to restrict the search: code, author, title, isbn (we don’t separate the numbers), or annotation (or abstract).
Simple search.
This search appears if you do a quick search or if you click the link in the top bar. It adds the ability to search within more than one field while ignoring others
Advanced search.
There is a link next to the "search for " box in the simple search window. It adds the ability to search the following: all of the words, exact phrase, at least one word, and without words. These categories are not mutually exclusive
