Nikolai Timofeev-Resovskii (1900-1981) was one of the greatest biologists of the 20th century, a legendary figure in the history of Russian science, particularly in the history of genetics. One of the most productive periods of his life was his 20 years of research in Germany. He returned to Russia after the war and was sent to a labor camp. After ten years spent in a soviet camp, he had no chance of publishing his works, so most of his research was written down and collected by his admirers and pupils. This book is a biography of Timofeev-Resovskii as a scientist and a review of his scientific legacy and his contribution to genetics and other related areas. Supplements include documents from scientific archives (pp. 445-634), bibliographies of his works, and works about him. Name index.
