In March 1931 fourteen former members of the Menshevik party were convicted for their alleged attempt to restore the party and to create an opposition with the intention of overthrowing the ruling regime. This is the first publication of the documents of this case, which allow a better understanding of the technology of Stalin`s political trials, methods of forgery and of obtaining avowals of guilt. Volume 1 contains 33 personal cases including interrogation materials and personal statements. These tragic documents show how people behaved in extreme situations.
