This book was long expected. This diaries of Mariia Fedorovna Romanova (1847-1928), a Dutch princess, wife of Alexander the Third, named “the Peace-maker” (1845-1894, reigned 1881-1894), the penultimate Emperor of the Romanov dynasty, mother of the last emperor Nicholas the Second is published for the first time. For 52 of her 81 years the empress lived in Russia. She outlived her son by nine years. For almost 80 years her name was erased from the memory in Russia. The original of the diaries was bought and returned to Russia by the musician M.L. Rostropovich.
